Lake County football standings after week 3

Libertyville rises to No. 1, while Grant returns to the ranking.

1. Libertyville 3-0 (3)

Averaging nearly 45 points, the Wildcats’ offense is hard to overlook, but Erich Walldorf and the defense more than carried their weight in their 43-14 win against Stevenson.

2. Forest Lake 3-0 (2)

Marty Hippel’s 17 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns were a big factor in the Scouts’ 38-7 win against Warren.

3. Mundelein 3-0 (4)

Brody Paluch (68 yards), Jake Junia (58 yards) and Logan Young (54 yards) all rushed for at least 50 yards in the Mustangs’ 17-6 win against Zion-Benton.

4. Carmel 2-1 (7)

Trae Taylor’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Eli Jackson with 0:25 left lifts the Corsairs over Providence, and Larry Wilder’s interception secures their 27-24 win.

5. Stevenson 2-1 (1)

Thomas Simmons and the Patriots averaged 47 points in their first two games before the loss at Libertyville. Mundelein is next.

6. Wauconda 2-1 (9)

Finally healthy, Jacob Hawley makes good use of his snaps, carrying the ball 10 times for 119 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 57-33 win against Grayslake North.

7. Antioch 2-1 (8)

The Sequoits were able to get a lot of players in the game during their 63-0 win against Round Lake.

8. Deerfield 2-1 (10)

Evan Yoblon rushed for two touchdowns and the Warriors forced three turnovers during their 28-7 win against Buffalo Grove.

9. Grant 2-1 (NR)

Tyler Zdon is producing at a rare clip, compiling 547 yards from scrimmage, including 331 yards rushing, and five touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 23-7 win against North Chicago.

10. Grayslake North 2-1 (5)

Chris Filas was a bright spot during the Knights’ loss to Wauconda, making five catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns.
