If you’re looking for the most interesting and fun makeup in all of Milan Fashion Week, you’re missing out on some of the creative cosmetic art if you’re just looking at the models’ faces. While we love (and get a lot of inspiration from) the various runway shows and presentations we’ve seen so far — New York and London fashion week are over and Milan is underway — we’ve never seen anything like what MAC makeup artists did at the Iceberg show, not on the model’s face, but on her legs.
Body makeup is not such a strange idea; some of us cover up our tattoos for our jobs or use bronzer or shimmer on our legs. But have you ever thought, instead of wearing socks or real socks, to paint with makeup? No? Lead makeup artist Patrick Glatthaar might make you rethink that.
At the Iceberg spring-summer 2025 show, models’ shins, calves and feet got the trompe l’oeil treatment. To complement the pastel and neon colors of the collection, makeup artists used MAC Chromacake to create the look of knee socks, pink, blue, yellow, orange and more; MAC global senior artist Wild party said Allure They mixed it with water to create the illusion of transparency, and backstage footage shows the artists applying makeup with traditional foam sponges and low-detail brushes, even with tape to achieve a super clean edge.
